Preliminary construction work on the new Pier D has already begun and the two-story 15,000 square metre structure will provide 14 new aircraft contact stands for Dublin Airport. A temporary forward lounge will be in use during the construction programme which is scheduled to be completed by September 2007.
Designed by leading international architects Skidmore Owings Merrill the new
pier will be 257 metres long and 26.5 metres wide. It will have 12 gate lounges
and one dedicated business lounge in addition to separate arrivals and departure
areas. Passengers will also be able to avail of three dedicated retail and
restaurant facilities.
