T2: Transforming Dublin Airport

Transforming

The new second terminal at Dublin Airport will cost €395m at current prices and will be capable of comfortably handling up to 15 million passengers per year. The terminal is designed to meet the needs of both long-haul and short-haul passengers and airlines.

T2 will be a 75,000 square metre building designed specifically with travellers’ needs in mind. Making use of natural light, it will create a bright airy space for passengers that is calm and relaxing. A new departures building, Pier E will be constructed perpendicular to the new terminal, providing boarding gates and parking for up to 19 aircraft. The overall T2 project also includes an improved internal campus roads network at Dublin Airport, a major utilities upgrade, a new multi-storey car park and the provision of sites for a new ground transportation centre and a future metro station.

The total cost of this project is just over €600m.  Independent consultants, appointed by the Government, have confirmed that the budgeting process and costs of T2 are in line with best international practice.
