New Proposed New Runway

Welcome to this section of our website specifically designed to provide you with up-to-date information on the proposed new runway at Dublin Airport

This segment will take you through the need, specification, community involvement and environmental aspects of the new runway amongst others.

Investment in a new runway at Dublin Airport is needed to meet the ever-increasing demand for travel to and from Ireland. Whilst we are working hard with our partners in Air Traffic Control and the airlines to maximise our existing runway capacity, it is clear that demand will exceed supply within the decade. In that regard the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) submitted a planning application to Fingal County Council in December 2004 for a new parallel runway, which will see the airport being able to accommodate over 30 million passengers per annum.  This investment in facilities at the airport is required to serve the growing demand for air transport in Ireland and to keep Dublin Airport in step with the fastest-growing airports throughout the world.
