Planning & Development

The characterisation of existing and future environments is now an integral part of assessing options for future developments as part of the planning process, and consequently Environmental Impact Statements (EIS’s) are required for planning applications for significant projects.

Environmental considerations must be incorporated into the full life cycle of development projects i.e. the design stage considerations to be carried through the construction stage on to the operational phase and finally through to decommissioning.  These include areas such as energy minimisation systems, waste management facilitation and practices, water preservation, ecological protection, traffic management, air quality and noise management.

The development of Dublin Airport takes account of the future growth of the facility to meet customer needs in the context of preserving & protecting the local and regional environment.

The Dublin Airport Authority understands its role in bringing about the development of the airport in a sustainable way, and is guided by best practice and the best available technologies in the implementation of proper and appropriate management programmes for the protection of the environment.
