More than 1.5 million passengers travelled through Dublin Airport in February 2007, a 14% increase on the same month last year according to figures released by the Dublin Airport Authority.
Passenger traffic to/from continental Europe rose by 34% with over 710,000 passengers travelling in February.
UK traffic recorded a small decline of 2% in February ’07 with almost 640,000 passengers travelling this route sector.
Over 65,000 passengers travelled on domestic routes to/from Dublin Airport, a 14% increase over the same month last year while passenger volumes to/from North America fell by 2% with more than 67,000 passengers travelling State side.
Other international passenger traffic to the Middle-East (Dubai and Bahrain), northern Africa (Sharm El Sheik) and South Africa(Capetown) rose by 43% with more than 18,000 passengers travelling to those destinations in February.
Dublin Airport facilitated a total of 2.9 million passengers during January and February, an increase of 12% over the same period in 2006.
A total of 328,000 additional passengers have been handled at the airport in the first two months of this year.
