More than 4.7 million passengers travelled through Dublin
Airport in the first quarter of 2007, representing a 14 percent increase over
the same period last year, according to figures released by the Dublin Airport
Authority.
Passenger traffic to/from continental
Europe rose by 33 percent with over 2.2 million passengers travelling in the
first quarter. UK traffic recorded remained static in the first three months
with almost 2 million passengers travelling this route sector. Over 190,000
passengers travelled on domestic routes to/from Dublin Airport, an 11 percent
increase over the same month last year while passenger volumes to/from North
America rose by 3 percent with more than 240,000 passengers travelling State
side.
Other international passenger traffic to the Middle East
(Dubai and Bahrain), northern Africa (Sharm El Sheik) and South Africa
(Capetown) rose by 49 percent with more than 58,000 passengers travelling to
those destinations in the first three months of the year. More than 18,000
transit passengers travelled through Dublin Airport to an onward destination
during the first three months of the year.

facilitated a total of 1.7 million passengers during March alone, an increase of
18 percent over March '06. Almost 600,000 additional passengers have been
handled at the airport in the first three months of this
year.
