Dublin Airport Welcomes 20,000,000th Passenger


Dublin Airport welcomed its 20,000,000th passenger today, Friday 8th December, 2006.

This is the first time for Dublin Airport to welcome 20 million passengers in one year. The 20 millionth passenger, arrived into Dublin Airport at 12 noon on board Aer Lingus flight EI 101 from Dubai. The lucky passenger was met and congratulated by the Dublin Airport Authority's Director of Communications, Vincent Wall and Enda Corneille, Commercial Director, Aer Lingus.
In welcoming the 20 Millionth Passenger, Vincent Wall, DAA Director of Communications said "This is a historic milestone for us at Dublin Airport. To put this in context it means that the equivalent of more than five times the entire population of Ireland travelled through Dublin Airport this year alone.
"We have broken a number of records at the airport this year; in welcoming over 50 new routes and services; three million additional passengers travelled through the airport this year and we now have 122 airlines servicing over 160 destinations providing passengers with a fantastic choice of destinations from Dublin Airport" Mr. Wall added.
To celebrate, Dublin Airport's 20 millionth passenger received a holiday voucher for ?3,000, a bouquet of flowers and a bottle of champagne.
