More than 2.1 million passengers travelled through Dublin Airport in August

Slightly in excess of 2.1m passengers travelled through Dublin Airport in August, a 15% decline on the same period last year, according to the Dublin Airport Authority.
 
Passenger volumes to and from continental Europe fell by 16% with over 1.1m passengers  travelling on these routes last month.
 
UK traffic recorded a 15% decrease with almost 680,000 passengers travelling in August.

Passenger numbers on domestic routes declined by 27% with just over 54,000 passengers taking domestic flights last month.  Transatlantic traffic to North America fell by 4% with almost 185,000 passengers travelling on this route sector in August.
 
Other international passenger traffic, principally flights to the Middle East, totalled 24,000 last month, a decline of 3% year on year.
Year-to-date more than 14.3 million passengers have travelled through Dublin Airport, a 12% decline over the same period last year.
