1.5 million passengers travel through Dublin Airport in January

Passenger throughput at Dublin Airport exceeded 1.5 million in January, a 7% increase over the same month last year according to the Dublin Airport Authority. 

This growth in passenger numbers represented an extra 110,000 passengers or an average of over 3,500 ADDITIONAL passengers every day during the month of January alone.    

Passenger volumes to/from continental Europe rose by 9% with almost 750,000 passengers travelling to European destinations last month. 

UK traffic grew slightly with over 620,000 passengers travelling this route sector. 

The number of passengers travelling on domestic routes rose by 15% to almost 70,000 passengers while passenger volumes to/from North America represented the biggest increase of 32% to with over 106,000 passengers travelling State side in January. 

Other international passenger traffic to the Middle-East (Dubai and Abu Dhabi), northern Africa (Sharm El Sheik) and South Africa(Capetown) rose by 20% with more than 24,000 passengers travelling to those destinations.
