Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) is dedicated to providing accessibility for people with reduced mobility throughout its facilities at Dublin Airport.
How To Request Assistance
People with reduced mobility
should contact and notify their airline, travel agent or tour operator with
details of their assistance requirements at least 48 hours in advance of the
departure of their flight. Passengers should then go directly to their check-in
desk and inform airline staff during their check-in that they have requested
assistance, at which point a representative from One Complete Solution (OCS)
will arrive to provide assistance.
It is very important that passengers
requiring this service ensure that they contact their airline, travel agent or
tour operator directly as their onward travel may be affected by the safety
rules an air carrier applies to the carriage of persons with reduced
mobility.
New Regulation EC 1107 / 2006
Background
From 26th July 2008, under Regulation EC 1107 / 2006, managing bodies of airports, such as DAA, have legal responsibility for the provision of assistance services to persons with reduced mobility when travelling by air.
Following an extensive consultative process involving air carriers, their handling agents and organisations representing persons with reduced mobility, DAA has appointed One Complete Solution Ltd (OCS) to provide assistance services to people with reduced mobility.
Quality Standards
DAA has established quality
standards for the assistance services specified in Annex 1 of the Regulation.
Version 1.0 was the subject of consultation with air carriers and their agents
and organisations representing persons with reduced mobility from 1st October
2007.
The quality standards may be inspected here:

The
DAA has also set up a Disability Users Group made up of representatives from a
broad range of organisations catering for individuals with specific
disabilities. Our aim in establishing this group is to ensure that any
decisions relating to future developments are fully communicated to those people
or groups with specific needs.
The
Dublin Airport Authority provides the following facilities (which are
continuously monitored) for passengers with reduced mobility:
Specially reserved easy access car parking spaces are available on the lower ground level Block B of the multi-storey car park for both long-term and short-term stays. The spaces are linked to car park control by an intercom system. Reduced parking rates apply for long-term stays.
More than 50 spaces have been designated for customers with reduced mobility in the lower ground of Block B. These spaces are well signed and have been marked out to the recommended width to accommodate wheelchairs. In addition each space has been treated with a special non slip surface to provide easy movement and access for customers.
Passengers using these car parking spaces for wheelchair use are charged the
long-term car parking rate when parking for more than 3
hours. The long term parking rate is €8.50 per day. Customers should note that
they are required to press the Information button the entrance barrier in order
to gain access to the wheelchair car park.
