Mobility Management Initiatives

Mobility Week
Dublin Airport marks European Mobility Week annuallywith an event involving companies who can promote sustainable transportation at Dublin Airport. This event is held in the middle of September Bus companies who operate from Dublin Airport regularly support the event, Dublin Bus, Bus Eireann, Aircoach, Urbus, Flybus, Matthews, JJKavanagh, McGinleys, Dublin Coach and GoBus are on hand to advise staff and passengers of the alternatives to choosing the car to get to and from work.
Eurotrek Raleigh Ireland have supported our event and have offered staff generous discounts on bikes and equipment. Segway Irl have offered test drives of their electric personnel carriers to both staff and passengers.

Promotion of New Bus Routes
New routes were opened recently to Dublin Airport. Matthews Coach Ltd commenced a service from City North Business Campus to Dublin Airport. This new service links Dublin Airport with Laytown, Bettystown, Drogheda and Dundalk.

Aircoach have opened a new route to Greystones from Dublin Airport stopping at various points en route – including the O2 arena (formally the Point Theatre).

Flybus recently commenced a premium bus service from Tallaght via Liffey Valley Shopping Centre to Dublin Airport

Staff Bike Hire Scheme
A new free bike hire scheme was launched during Mobility Week and already over 100 staff from Dublin Airport Authority have joined the scheme. The scheme which is similar in design to some European city schemes will allow staff to travel around the airport by bicycle instead of taking a car.
The scheme is part of an overall effort to encourage sustainable transport among staff and to help with mobility management around the large Airport complex.

12 Bikes around 4 locations can be used by DAA staff on a 24hr basis, there’s also an option to add locations to the network if the initiative proves popular.
The custom made bike are branded in the DAA corporate colours and come complete with a carry basket and locking mechanism.

Carsharing
Dublin Airport Authority introduced a carsharing scheme for staff in December 2007. We are joined in this initiative by SR Technics and Aer Arann and to date Dublin Airport staff have saved over 3200kgs of CO2 and over 1000 litres of fuel.

Taxsaver Scheme
The Commuter Taxsaver Scheme was introduced in December 2007 for all DAA employees. Staff can save up to 47% of the cost of travelling to and from the Airport by bus
