Airport Development

Terminal 2

The €1.2 billion Transforming Dublin Airport investment programme has been the primary vehicle in the upgrading and modernising of facilities on the airport campus from 2006 to 2010.

The Transforming programme is funded through a combination of passenger charges and commercial revenue. The DAA receives no direct state funding to pay for its investment programme.

Some of the new facilties resulting from the investment programme include the Area 14 lower ground floor check-in hall in Terminal 1, which opened in May 2007; the new 101-121 gates which opened in October 2007; and the T1X retail extension, which opened in April 2009.

Terminal 2 officially opened on November 19, 2010. Airlines that operate from Terminal 2 include Aer Lingus, Etihad Airways, Continental (United), US Airways, American Airlines and Delta Airlines.

These new facilities allow Dublin Airport to comfortably handle up to 35 million passengers per year and create a vibrant modern airport and efficient gateway for Ireland.
