Frequently Asked Questions:

1. What is the SMS Flight Information Service?

This service allows customers to check arrival information for flights into Dublin Airport by sending their flight query via SMS to 53045.

2. How do I use the SMS Flight Information Service?

In order to query the status of a flight, you must know the flight number of the arriving flight. Your text must also include ‘DUB’ and ‘ARR’.
For example, for an arriving flight, simply text: DUB, ARR followed by the flight number, to 53045.
e.g. DUB ARR EI123

It is essential that you include all three components in the correct format. The omission of any of these, incorrect flight number, misspelling and/or incorrect format may result in you not receiving the information.

3. How many texts will I receive?

You will receive one text.  If you query a flight which has already arrived, you will receive one text confirming the actual arrival time.

If you query a flight which has not yet arrived, you will receive one text with the scheduled/current estimated arrival time. You should receive the text in a matter of seconds, in line with normal expectations for this type of SMS service.

4. For how long is the flight information valid?

You will be provided information on flights for the previous 3 hours and the subsequent 21 hours from the time you send your flight query e.g. if you send a flight query today at 6pm, information on flights up until 3pm tomorrow will be queried.

Information about flights which have already arrived is held for 3 hours e.g. if you send a flight  query today at 3pm and the flight arrived between 12 noon and 3pm today, you will  receive a text confirming the actual arrival time. However, if the flight arrived before 12 noon today, you will receive the next scheduled/current estimated arrival time for this flight within the next 21 hours.

5. How much does the SMS Flight Information Service cost?

It costs 50c per flight query including VAT. This covers the cost of both sending your flight query and receiving one flight status message. This cost is deducted from your mobile phone when you send your flight query.

6. What should I do if I enter an incorrect flight number or send a flight query by mistake?

If you send a flight query with an incorrect flight number, you will receive a text message notifying you of the same. You will be required to send another flight query with the correct flight number. Each flight query costs 50c including VAT.

If you send a flight query to 53045 by mistake, it is likely that you will receive a status message almost instantaneously.

7. Where does the flight information come from?

The source of the flight information is DAA’s airport operations system.   DAA uses this system to record and manage information on all arriving flights.

8. I haven’t received any messages?

Ensure that you entered all the required information correctly. It is important that you include all the necessary components (DUB ARR FLIGHT NUMBER) in your text message and in the correct format. The omission of any of these, incorrect flight number, misspelling and/or incorrect format may result in you not receiving the information.

In addition, your receipt of a message may be affected by factors relating to the mobile network such as network delays, poor network coverage, mobile phone switched off and/or full message inbox.
