Dublin Airport is delighted to support a range of events, organised to celebrate The Gathering 2013, and which will attract many welcome additional visitors to our shores this year.

We have been involved with of some of these organisations and events for many years and are pleased to extend our support for some of their specific Gathering-related activities in 2013.

The other events listed have been selected because they align with our overall sponsorship policy of supporting appropriate youth-related, sporting or cultural events, specifically in our local Fingal Region and more broadly in the Greater Dublin Area.

Dublin Theatre Festival

We are long-standing supporters of the Dublin Theatre Festival and we are particularly pleased to be associated with a special seminar they have planned for The Gathering.

This day-long special seminar, themed ‘Theatre and the Diaspora’, will take place during the Festival in late September, and will attract speakers and audiences from Ireland and overseas to a stimulating exposition of the influence of emigration on Irish dramatists and Irish drama.

European Athletics Team Championships

This event, the largest single athletics event ever to be staged in Ireland, will take place in historic Morton Stadium, within a stone’s throw of Dublin Airport, on June 22 and 23.  The Championships will involve competing teams rather than individuals. Hosted by Athletics Ireland, it will attract more than 600 athletes from 12 European countries and will not only celebrate The Gathering, but mark another significant milestone in the progress of Irish athletics.

The Gathering International Kick Fada Tournament

For many years, Bray Emmets GAA Club in North Wicklow, has held a nationwide competition to identify the GAA player who can kick a football with the required amount of accuracy over the longest distance.  This year to celebrate The Gathering the search goes global and Dublin Airport will be lending its support to a great day out in mid-September, when the male and female contestants will battle it out for the honour of becoming the first winners of The Gathering International Kick Fada Tournament.
