The Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) is dedicated to providing accessibility
for people with reduced mobility. Currently, the provision of assistance
for people with reduced mobility is the responsibility of the airlines, though
the airport provides the infrastructure that enables passenger access through
the terminal to the aircraft by means of lifts and ramps.
When
travelling, passengers with reduced mobility should notify their airline or
travel agent directly when booking, if special facilities/assistance are
required. Some airlines provide wheelchair assistance as part of their
passenger handling service. Other airlines outsource this service to
Fernley Limited, an independent company providing various support services on
request.
Fernley provide passenger assistance to
and from the aircraft using specialised equipment to ensure the safe and
comfortable movement of passengers.
Fernley can be contacted at the airport on
+353 1 814 5505
+353 1 814 4938
or +353 87 0516752.
The DAA welcomes any comments on the levels of service provided and will ensure that the feedback received will be passed on to the relevant bodies.
From July 2008, under new EU Legislation, the airport authorities will be
responsible for the provision of assistance for people with reduced
mobility. In line with the Department of Transport's objectives, it is the
aim of the Dublin Airport Authority, "that all passenger transport providers
should provide the highest possible degree of accessibility, subject to
available resources and competing priorities and rules of practicality."
The DAA has set up a Disability Users Group made up of representatives from a
broad range of organisations catering for individuals with specific
disabilities. Our aim in establishing this group is to ensure that any
decisions relating to future developments are fully communicated to those people
or groups with specific needs.
The Dublin Airport Authority provides the
following facilities (which are continuously monitored) for passengers with
reduced mobility:
Specially reserved easy access car parking spaces are available on the lower ground level Block B of the multi-storey car park for both long-term and short-term stays. The spaces are linked to car park control by an intercom system. Reduced parking rates apply for long-term stays.
More than 50 spaces have been designated for customers with reduced mobility in the lower ground of Block B. These spaces are well signed and have been marked out to the recommended width to accommodate wheelchairs. In addition each space has been treated with a special non slip surface to provide easy movement and access for customers.
Passengers using the new car parking spaces for wheelchair use are charged the
long-term car parking rate when parking for more than 3
hours. The long term parking rate is €8.50 per day. Customers should note that
they are required to press the Information button the entrance barrier in order
to gain access to the wheelchair car park.
The Dublin Airport Authority is a customer service-oriented organisation. Should you need any assistance at the Airport, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Relations Agents or any available staff member. You can also contact our Customer Relations Department on +353 1 814 4717.
