Things to do in Rabat

Hassan Tower & Mausoleum of Mohammed V

The Hassan Tower is an unfinished 12th-century minaret, originally meant to be the largest mosque in the world. Nearby, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V is a stunning white marble tomb that houses Morocco’s beloved former king.

Kasbah of the Udayas

A UNESCO-listed fortress overlooking the Atlantic, the Kasbah features blue-and-white painted streets, Andalusian-style gardens, and the Café Maure, where you can enjoy Moroccan mint tea with ocean views.

Medina

Unlike the bustling medinas of Fez or Marrakech, Rabat’s medina is less touristy and offers a mix of traditional Moroccan souks, artisan shops, and old colonial-era buildings.

Beaches

The city has several beaches, including Plage de Rabat and Plage des Nations, perfect for surfing, sunbathing, or enjoying a coastal walk.

Chellah Necropolis

This ancient Roman and medieval Islamic site features crumbling ruins, storks nesting on minarets, and peaceful gardens. It’s one of the most atmospheric historical sites in Rabat.
