daa’s Communications team at Dublin Airport has picked up two major honours in an international digital media awards competition.

daa’ s Communications team won The Moodie Award for best Brand/In-House Team, as well as the award for Small Budget Campaign of the Year for a Christmas competition it ran in December 2022 to win a "Trip of a Lifetime to Abu Dhabi" with Etihad Airways.

The team received the awards following a busy 12-month period which saw it manage the re-start of international travel following the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as a number of large and small reactive and organic campaigns highlighting what Dublin Airport is doing to improve and raise standards for passengers.

The past year has also seen the team manage a number of extremely high-profile PR events at Dublin Airport, including the visit to Ireland of US President Joe Biden, the departure and arrival of numerous Irish sports teams including the Irish Women's soccer team to their first ever World Cup Finals in Australia and the Ireland rugby team to the recent World Cup in France.

Last Christmas - which is always a magical time of the year at Dublin Airport - saw millions of passengers travelling home both to and from Dublin Airport, in many cases for the first time in several years due to the COVID pandemic. The daa Communications team delivered a knock-out programme of festive activities in the terminals during December, a cornerstone of which was a competition in partnership with Etihad Airways to win a "Trip of a Lifetime to Abu Dhabi" which included return flights, luxury hotel accommodation and a packed-schedule of complimentary activities for the winners to enjoy in Abu Dhabi.

Kevin Cullinane, daa’s Group Head of Communications , the operator of Dublin Airport said: “It's a great achievement for the daa Communications team to be recognised as the best among our peers around the world. It has been an incredibly busy year at Dublin and indeed Cork airports over the past year, which has presented many communications challenges and opportunities for the team. My personal highlights included the numerous arrivals and departures of Air Force One and US President Joe Biden's extensive entourage during his state visit to Ireland in April, as well as the year-long rollout of communications campaigns centred around our Better Dublin Airport improvement plan, which is continually improving standards for passengers in the two terminals at Dublin Airport."

The Moodies, now in their tenth year, are organised by the Moodie Davitt Report and make up 23 separate categories for social, mobile and digital media activity by airports and airport retailers globally. More than 200 companies were nominated for the awards this year.
