The Important Flyer

Passengers with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) may find the airport environment overwhelming, especially during security screening. To support these passengers, Dublin Airport offers the Important Flyer Lanyard or Wristband.

What Is the Important Flyer Identifier?

The Important Flyer identifier discreetly signals to airport staff that the wearer may need:

  • Additional time or assistance

  • Clear and calm communication

  • Access to Fast Track security, which offers a quieter, less stimulating environment

How to Apply for the Important Flyer Lanyard or Wristband

To apply:

  1. Complete the Important Flyer application form.

  2. Attach a one-page letter from a GP or an AsIAm card confirming a diagnosis of Autism or SPD.

  3. Submit a separate application for each individual requiring the identifier.

Note: The Important Flyer identifier is only recognised at Dublin Airport. For questions, contact the Reduced Mobility Coordinator at prm@daa.ie.

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a globally recognised symbol that discreetly indicates a passenger has a hidden disability.

Dublin Airport joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network in 2024. All staff are trained to recognise the Sunflower symbol and provide support to passengers who wear it, offering extra help, greater understanding, or simply more time when needed.

Ahead of your next journey, watch this video guide and apply to wear a Sunflower via the PRM Assist App.
