Travel with children

Tips For You & Your Kids

Travelling with kids is one of the most rewarding yet challenging things you can do. Here are some tips on how to make your journey with children as stress-free as possible;

  • Carry all your travel documents in one easy-to-reach place.

  • Make sure your hand baggage meets security requirements before you leave home.

  • If you're bringing a buggy or pram, see if you can take them on board or if you have to check them in.

  • Keep everything that your baby needs on the flight in your carry-on luggage.

  • Essential fluids - medicine, baby formula - can go over security's 100ml limit. Just ask for a special fluids tray during your screening.

Flying With Kids Made Easy

Arrive Early

Generally, we suggest travellers arrive 2 hours before a short-haul flight and 3 hours before a long-haul flight. If you're checking in a bag or buggy/pram, have a look at your airline's check-in & bag drop desk opening times, and if you can, give yourself an extra hour to check in your things.

Sail Through Security

Carry-on items, including prams and buggies, must be x-rayed

If an item doesn’t fit in the x-ray, security staff will inspect it physically.

Remove your child from the pram and place all contents in a tray before screening.

Medications, baby formula, milk, etc, are allowed if they're essential for the flight.

A Note On The Metal Detector

Everyone has to be screened through security, even babies. Metal detectors are considered safe for everyone, including children and pregnant women. If you'd rather a search by hand, just let a member of the staff know before you walk through the detector.  If your child is able, they can walk through the metal detector separately. If not, you can carry them through yourself.

Baby Changing Facilities

You'll find rooms for baby changing all over Terminal 1 & 2, normally beside the toilet facilities.

Children’s Play Corners

Dublin Airport now features dedicated kid’s play corners on each Pier, thoughtfully designed with engaging sorting games, twist challenges, puzzles, and educational interactive fun to keep young travellers entertained and inspired.

Baby Feeding Rooms

We've dedicated baby feeding rooms in both Terminal 1 and 2. They're beyond security, beside the food and beverage area in T1 and the retail area in T2. These rooms have high chairs, comfortable vinyl seating, a microwave, and a bottle warmer.
