daa welcomes Fingal County Council’s decision to grant an extension of time on the planning permission for North Runway. The extension will be for five years, up to and including August 28, 2022. This is an important and necessary step in facilitating the delivery of North Runway.
The original planning permission was granted in 2007, but due to the subsequent global recession the project was unavoidably delayed. Following the economic recovery and sustained increased passenger numbers at Dublin Airport, a decision was taken in April 2016 to proceed with the project. Construction commenced last December and the initial development phase is progressing to schedule.
North Runway is a key enabler for Irish economic growth and is underpinned by Irish government policy to grow Dublin as a hub airport and ensure that services can operate from Dublin to key emerging global markets.
