March 24, 2025 Back to all news

We want to advise you about upcoming flight checks which will take place as part of Dublin Airport’s mandatory Instrument Landing Systems (ILS) biannual checks.

Subject to weather conditions, the flight checks will take place on three consecutive nights between 11pm and 6am from Monday, March 24 to Wednesday, March 26, 2025.

The flights will be undertaken by a small twin-engine aircraft which will make multiple approaches to each end of the North Runway 10L/28R, the Crosswind Runway 16/34 and the South Runway 10R/28L and at no lower than a height of 100 feet. It will then undertake several passes of the runways at c. 50 feet. daa is required to facilitate these flight checks in order to comply with EASA (European Aviation Safety Authority) regulations, as directed by the IAA (Irish Aviation Authority).

The following sequence of runway testing is planned - schedule remains subject to weather, runway mode, and operational requirements as managed by AirNav Ireland:

  • Monday, March 24 - South Runway 10R/28L
  • Tuesday, March 25 - North  Runway 10L/28R
  • Wednesday, March 26 - Crosswind Runway 16/34

Previously advised North Runway 10L/28R maintenance scheduled between Monday, March 24 and Friday, March 28 will now only take place on Thursday, March 27 and Friday, March 28. These temperature and weather dependent work require the early closure at 10pm of the North Runway 10L/28R. During this time, the South Runway (10R/28L) will remain open for all traffic, and segregated operations will return as normal from 7am the following morning.
