Tarom the Romanian national carrier and Skyteam member has today announced a new service from Bucharest to Dublin starting on May 1.

Tarom will operate this route three times per week (Wed, Fri and Sun) with a two class 116 seater B737-700 aircraft. This will also  allow passengers from Dublin to connect onto the Tarom network over to places such as Tel Aviv, Athens, Cairo, Belgrade, Budapest, Beirut, Larnaca and Sofia.

DAA Strategy Director Vincent Harrison, said he was delighted to welcome Tarom to Dublin Airport. "This new service will provide significant additional direct connectivity between Dublin and Bucharest, and also allow passengers to connect at Bucharest to a wide range of destinations in the Balkans and the Middle East."

Aer Lingus' twice weekly service from Dublin to Bucharest will cease to operate at the end of April, while Romanian carrier Blu Air also operates a twice weekly service between the two cities.

Last year more than 70,000 passengers travelled on scheduled services between Dublin and Romania, with more than 55,000 passengers taking flights between Dublin and Bucharest.
