Dublin Airport has been shortlisted for the World Routes Marketing Award 2015 in the category for airports that handle 20-50 million passengers per year.

The awards, which are for excellence in marketing by airports, are voted exclusively by airlines worldwide and are divided into four categories based on airport size. The other nominees in this category are Copenhagen, Munich, Brussels and Vienna.

Dublin Airport won the award in this category last year, while Copenhagen, Dusseldorf, Munich and Seattle Tacoma airports were shortlisted.

“We are delighted to have been shortlisted for this award two years in a row,” said Dublin Airport Managing Director, Vincent Harrison. “We were thrilled to win this prestigious award last year and we have continued to work very closely with our airline partners to grow passenger volumes across all route sectors this year.”

Dublin Airport, which was one of the fastest growing airports in Europe in the first half of this year, has welcomed 22 new routes/services this year and six new airlines.

Passenger numbers are up 15% during the first six month of the year to 11.5 million and the airport has welcomed over 1.5 million extra passengers so far in the first half of 2015. Dublin Airport, which is celebrating its 75 birthday in 2015, has 167 scheduled destinations this year.

The 2015 award winners will be announced at the three-day World Routes conference in Durban, South Africa on September 21.

Created in 1997 to recognise excellence in airport marketing as rewarded by airlines, the annual Routes Awards provide the airline community with the chance to have their say as to which airport they think provides the best overall marketing services to them.

The shortlist for the awards is compiled from votes cast by marketing and network development representatives from airlines worldwide.  The winner is decided by a judging panel of senior airline figures.
